The Shot Heard Around the World

Updated Wednesday August 1, 2018 by J Biggs.

The Mudcats and Yankees had their first meeting of the season between two evenly matched teams. The game initially played out as advertised as the Mudcats jumped to a 4-2 lead after two innings. The Yankees responded with four runs in the third inning and another run in the fifth to claim a 7-4 lead heading into the decisive 7th inning.

In the seventh inning the Yankees exploded for eight runs, which a towering homerun that was never seen or heard from again and was rumoured to have burned up in the upper stratosphere. The Mudcats scored three runs in the bottom half of the game to make the final score appear more complimentary to the Mudcats.
