Mudcats Snap Two Game Losing StreakUpdated Wednesday August 1, 2018 by Justin Biggs.
The Mudcats took advantage of an eight player Orioles team Sunday afternoon to snap a two game losing streak.
The Mudcats jumped to an early 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a solo homerun by Scott Arthurs. Mark Chernos then added to the Mudcats lead with two hits and driving in the next three Mudcats runs.
Colin Cousin kept the scoring going in the 3rd inning with a single up the middle that scored a player from second. Chris Smith then added to the lead with his usual approach and taking the first pitch curveball opposite field to score Cousin from second.
In the fourth inning Smith started the scored when he again did something to record his second rbi of the game. Nick Street would rbi to score Smith and Craig Tessier took an 0-2 slider up the middle for the final rbi of the game. The Mudcats scored two more anonymous runs en route to a 11-2 victory.
Chris Davenport was credited as the winning pitcher but game all the credit to Chris Smith for calling an excellent game behind the plate. Davenport would only allow one hit for extra bases when he decided to shake off Smith for an unknown reason.
